In the Kingdom of the Blind

So, I broke down and got new glasses. Not because I wanted new glasses; I loved my glasses. But they broke. I was limping along with my old pair, simply sliding the arm back together when it fell off, but alas, along came the day when it would no longer fit together. I have to confess, even after that I resisted new glasses and wore them precariously balanced on one arm for a while. But I finally had to give in and admit that I needed new glasses.

I hate choosing new glasses. There is something very perverse about a process in which someone who can't actually see is expected to pick out her most important, least disposable fashion accessory. Which might be why Lenscrafters now offers that 30 day guarantee.

I've lived with these ones for about two weeks now, and I still just don't know. So, internet, what do you think? Putting aside the fact that I am wearing no makeup, in desperate need of a haircut, and am suffering the aftereffects of The Sleepover (quiet at 2, up at 6!), what do you think? Should I stick with this pair, or take them back and try again?

That's the first picture I've ever seen of you. I like the glasses but I'm not a fashionista so don't take my word for it.

Me likee. They do seem a wee bit big in the lens part compared to the glasses I've seen you wear in photos. If I get mine too small, it makes my head look even bigger so I'm not a good judge of that kind of thing. I like the shape & color though and believe me, with all the sh&t I've been through to get a pair of contacts in the last two months, I say grab 'em & run.

I like how you look with the new glasses!

Catching up on the last weeks - so much as happened. Did you ask the Cute ex-Blockbuster guy out for coffee?

As a former highschool friend, I have to say that those glasses look great! What a change from your usual style. I broke down and bought similar ones, so I understand your hesitancy. Keep 'em!

I would go for a lighter frame around your face.

I expected something a little more small in the lens...but those look good.

I like the glasses but I think that a smaller frame would bring out more of your features and you look great after a sleepover my kids thank god are over that phase they used to wear me out for days

I like them.

I used to wear glasses and totally loved that shape.

Have you considered Lasik? I did it about 7 years ago and loved it.

The glasses look great, but where are the bags under your eyes? Whenever we have a sleepover, I look like a wreck! You look pretty fresh to me. Maybe it's the glasses.

p.s. Ask him out. When I was single I was pretty inept at the dating thing, too. Any of those stories you told from your high school days could have been me.
You are so smart and attractive. Let the self-confidence you feel in the other areas of your life spill over to the dating realm.

As someone who has worn glasses since I was 9 (that's almost 25 years ago - Good God, how did THAT happen???), I personally think your frames are quite pretty. The color is great for you.

They look good, and I know what you mean about going shopping for them, so keep them. I hope they last a long time!

About Me

You say "Single Mom," I say "Solo Mom." In my world, it's all about having your priorities in order, and getting my whites whiter than white is never, ever going to be a priority. Helping my girls paste glitter to their artwork, that's a priority. Sometimes I hide in the bathroom to get a bit of peace and quiet. But I never have to share the kisses.
