Don't Be Shy

Hey, it's national* delurking week. So, instead of just sitting there silently, click on the comments and say something!

*I think we need a new word. Can you really use "national" when talking about the net? It's sort of borderless. And while we all still have our affiliations (You'll notice that I posted about Canada Day, not the Fourth of July), there's a lot of overlap when it comes to net events. When bloggers from all over the world are doing NaBloPoMo, or participating in Delurking Week, can we really call it National? What nation, exactly, is holding the event?

I'm not necessarily a lurker since I do comment here on occasion, but I can't resist the lure of a de-lurking post!

How's that 35 fitting now? Feeling a bit more comfy? That'll be me later this year... WOW!

I'm delurking... I've delurked all week! Feels good. Happy Belated Bday! I turned 35 last month. And you're right. Just doesn't feel right. Mid-30s??? When did that happen? I still feel 25!

I've been reading your blog since the day you started it, and I really connected with it as a solo mom for the first 6 years of my 8 year old's life. It's like you're verbalizing the monologue in my head! Happy birthday!

Posted by Chantel on January 12 at 10:24am

did you ever hear the word international.

Posted by caroline on January 12 at 12:57pm

How about Global Community? I think that is the world wide term.

I'll delurk myself. I stumbled upon your blog Christmas day and have gone back to read all of your posts. Is it bad when as a "solo" working mom you go to the dentist just to relax in the chair?? It's nice to know the phone is ringing and it's not for you.
You've encouraged me to start blogging and it's very theraputic. Thank you and Happy Birthday...January is a great month!!

Another delurker. Happy belated B-day.

Ooooo...but I LIKE lurking. It's so comfortable and anonymous out here.

But I'll say hi and that I like your blog, even though I don't have kids yet(give me five years and I'll be right there with you).

And happy birthday!

back to the depths with me, I think...

Happy Delurking from Philadelphia. Hope Ontario weather is treating you well. I miss my Canadian winters.

Well, I'm not a lurker, but I'll comment anyway.

Hi!

I asked the same thing - I called in North American Delurking Week, because I'd seen both Americans and Canadians writing about it. "Global" would have been better though!

Happy De-Lurking Week from a lurker...and happy Belated birthday while I'm here:)

Delurking from Norway, just to support the global thought. And I wish I was 35 again :D

Hey, lurking all the time from Western Australia!! Go Planet Perth lol

Not exactly de-lurking, but to keep up the international thing... I have been reading from the Netherlands for a while now! (and from Lebanon before that, if you wonder where that reader went ;) )

Happy new year in your life!

Posted by Nic on January 14 at 04:29am

Happy de-lurking from beautiful British Columbia! May I go back to lurking now, please? I've never been very chatty...

Posted by swanhilde on January 14 at 12:50pm

Wow.

Thank you to everyone who delurked. It's awesome that you read, and fine if you want to lurk to do so, but how exciting to see 15 new people pop out of the woodwork. Bloggers love comments you know. It makes us feel like you're there, and we're not just shouting on a soapbox.

And how cool is that that we're all global here? Coast to coast Canada. Several of the United States, Britain, Lebanon, Norway, The Netherlands, New Zealand and Australia, just from these comments. I had no idea so many different people in so many different countries were reading. I'm astounded and flattered.

Thank you all. You may now return to lurking, if you really must.

Not a lurker!! lol. .... Guess i should post this on my blog too. But i never get comments. ROFL

Posted by Theresa on January 15 at 02:18am

Wow. Look at all those comments! I totally forgot about delurking week. Maybe I can have mine a week late?

Posted by Mary P on January 15 at 08:01am

Oh, THERESA: (caps to catch your attention, nothing rude!). You might find you get more comments if you leave your URL when you comment. I often follow an interesting commenter back to their home blog. I just tried to do that with you - but no link!

Signing in... (((HERE!)))

Posted by Julia on January 15 at 05:19pm

Yes, I lurk, but I do come out every so often to comment;) Happy Birthday:)

Posted by Lisa R on January 15 at 05:58pm

I had no idea it was delurking week until the end. I think if it is going to be a global thing, it should be at least a couple of weeks long.

Posted by Heather on January 16 at 11:14pm

I'm delurking late...sorry!

I'm with you on dropping the "national."

Posted by Karen Rani on January 20 at 09:30pm

not really de-lurking but thought this was a good spot to say hey as I hadn't popped by in a while! so HI! :D

Posted by Victoria on January 25 at 11:31am

I was raised by a single mom, so I can relate to a lot of the things you have said and described in your blog. I know it was tough for my Mom, but she pulled through it, and it sounds like you're not doing so badly with it either! Keep up the great work!

About Me

You say "Single Mom," I say "Solo Mom." In my world, it's all about having your priorities in order, and getting my whites whiter than white is never, ever going to be a priority. Helping my girls paste glitter to their artwork, that's a priority. Sometimes I hide in the bathroom to get a bit of peace and quiet. But I never have to share the kisses.
