Random Bits.

My apologies. I've not been trying to neglect the blog. I love the blog! And all you guys who comment. Lurve the comments (because really, a blogger who tells you she's not a comment whore? Is a liar.) Plus, you guys are always so kind and generous. I feel I've treated you badly.

But the thing is, that wicked cold that seems to have infected half the internet has infected me too. That plus work plus new kitten plus suicidal fish plus The Ladies equals "holy crap my house is a mess! (like, to the point where I'm feeling it needs some major work, which is saying something) And I haven't blogged in forever! Wah."

So, not much going on. I had the. worst. class. EVER on Wednesday. That was....horrible, actually. A bunch of grade 8s who weren't going to listen no matter what. I'm trying to block out the details, but I will tell you that in the first 40 minutes, the principal was called twice. It was like the first time you see the class in Dangerous Minds, multiplied by a factor of 10. I'm a very good substitiute teacher, and I actually really enjoy challenging kids, but I don't remember when I was so happy to be leaving a school.

Oh, and the furball is named. You all had some good suggestions. Hearing about people's pet names is almost as fun as hearing baby names. The Ladies finally decided to go with Nyx. I suggested Dahlia and Delilah, but no dice. The didn't even bite for my blatant Buffy rip off, Miss Kitty Fantastico. So, Nyx she is.

She's made herself right at home now, jumping out from under furniture to conduct sneak attacks on our ankles, trying to steal Regan's lunch, and, last night, curling up on top of my head and purring--at 2:18 am. Yep, she's definitely our cat now.

Now I'm off to scoop some litter, vacuum the floor, and do some dishes. Or nap. That works too.

Its so gorgeous when they finally decide that you are theirs (kids and cats!!). I went to school in a class like that and it was hell for the even semi intelligent kids that were put there. I hope you get better soon. Be careful of Nyx's habit of head sleeping coz I have to shut the doors to my kids rooms so our cat "Dropkick" won't sleep on their faces.

Welcome to Nyx! Hope that she leaves Princess Sparklefairy alone. I love saying "Princess Sparklefairy." It makes me smile every time.

Me too Lady M. That was the big temptation of switching the pets' names. Years and years of Princess Sparklefairy. It's just so fun to say!

It takes them no time at all to be sure they've lived there longer than you have.

Cats, that is.

About Me

You say "Single Mom," I say "Solo Mom." In my world, it's all about having your priorities in order, and getting my whites whiter than white is never, ever going to be a priority. Helping my girls paste glitter to their artwork, that's a priority. Sometimes I hide in the bathroom to get a bit of peace and quiet. But I never have to share the kisses.
