Fun With Pronouns

Regan is happily engaged in a rousing game of "My Mummy!" with her sister.

You know this game, where the toddler claims sole ownership of the parent, regardless of any other sibiling claims. And the the other kid chimes in with "no, my Mummy!" and so on and so on.

You'd think that given the fact that her sister, at 5 years her senior, has a far more sophisticated grasp on the english language, Regan would be at a bit of a disadvantage in this game. It certainly appeared that way with Sabrina's brilliant reply of "She's our Mummy, Regan."

Regan's reply, however, makes her the world champion of this event: "Yeah. She's our my Mummy!"

I love this lol

Whenever I pick my daughter up from her dads place, she tells everyone over and over that "dat moy mommy, not yoo mommy - moine.."
Her dad lives with a women with a 4 year old, and my miss three certainly tells her that I am the mother lol

A bit cheeky, but I love it!!

Hahaha, we have the opposite problem. People always assume that our flatmate (a boy) is my girls dad. Big Girl has been heard to make comments like "No thats our Kelvin!!" or (and I liked this one the best) "my dad has gone but I have the best mum ever" awww shucks. Will be interesting to hear what Little Miss has to say about things when she starts to talk.
How long do you think it will be before your ladies are having the "I love her more!" argument then the "I love mummy up to the sky" statements start to kick in.

Ah, the popularity of being a mom is sometimes too much.

Hey, my daughter (7) and I get in these "I love you more" contests: "I love you to the sky and the moon and the planets and the stars...and back"! :)) It's so cute! And that little face when she gets up in the middle of the night and wants to sleep in my bed (lotsa room--it's a queen and no-one else to share with!)...priceless. (What's sad sometimes is if her dad says something critical about me then days "You're just like your mum." She tries to defend me. That's no job for a child!!! >:( ) She's a trooper and a great help--I had to have stitches once (cut my finger) and she watched the whole process, fascinated. I guess being the child of a solo mum makes them more independent.

About Me

You say "Single Mom," I say "Solo Mom." In my world, it's all about having your priorities in order, and getting my whites whiter than white is never, ever going to be a priority. Helping my girls paste glitter to their artwork, that's a priority. Sometimes I hide in the bathroom to get a bit of peace and quiet. But I never have to share the kisses.
